Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking for an experienced finance professional looking for a varied, hands‑on role where you can truly make an impact. This part‑time Financial Controller position offers the chance to lead finance, payroll, administration and business systems within a well‑established manufacturing organisation based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
You’ll join the management team and play a key role in supporting operational decision‑making, partnering with department heads, and ensuring the smooth running of all financial and systems processes.
The Role
As Financial Controller/Finance Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the finance function, including accounting, management reporting, payroll and systems. You’ll manage a part‑time Accountant and work closely with colleagues across the business, particularly Customer Service and Purchasing. This is a broad and rewarding role, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy and being at the heart of business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting
- Bank account management, reconciliations, payments and receipts
- Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
- Month‑end processes: journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, provisions, reconciliations, exchange rates, ledger revaluation and trial balance
- Credit control
- VAT returns
- Petty cash
- Cashflow management, reporting and forecasting
- Supporting production teams and investigating variances in works orders and stock
- Standard costing and variance analysis
- Budgeting and forecasting
- KPI and management reporting (Sales & Margin, P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow)
- Business partnering, including project evaluation
- Stock‑takes
- Year‑end processes and liaison with external auditors
- Processing salaries, holidays, sickness and supplementary pay
- Tax, NI and pension payments
- P11D Pension and death‑in‑service administration
- Overseeing the ERP system, ensuring availability, accuracy and user support
- Managing non‑production technology (network, telephony, mobiles, access control)
- Providing training and support to users across the business
- Ensuring IT policies, security and compliance are maintained
- First‑line support for network‑attached equipment
- Maintaining or improving legacy Access databases
- Cross‑department project management
- Providing cover for management team colleagues when required
