An established, highly regarded independent garage based in Burton is recruiting a skilled Vehicle Technician to join their experienced workshop crew. What's Included in the Package?

  • Salary Range: £35,000 – £45,000 basic per annum (DOE) + workshop incentive bonus (Holding a valid MOT Tester card is a distinct advantage and will push your starting salary to the top of the scale!)
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday schedule (plus Saturdays on a fair rota basis)
  • Paid Leave: 20 days paid annual leave + all statutory bank holidays

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Carry out heavy mechanical work, including timing belts/chains, clutch assemblies, engine overhauls, and gearbox replacements
  • Use multi-brand diagnostic scan tools to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults accurately
  • Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, brake/suspension overhauls, and pre-MOT health checks
  • Write clear technical notes on job cards and update front-of-house staff on job timelines
  • Keep working bays clean, organized, and compliant with safety guidelines

What We Need From You

  • Technical Experience: Time-served mechanic with solid confidence in heavy mechanical repairs and fault isolation
  • Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ / IMI in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time-served garage background)
  • MOT Status: Active MOT Tester licence is preferred (with enhanced starting pay), but not essential to apply
  • Mindset: Dependable, detail-oriented technician focused on clean workmanship and first-time fixes
  • Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
