We are looking for an experienced Diagnostic Vehicle Technician to join an established independent specialist workshop in Swanley, Kent. You’ll work on a range of performance, sports, prestige and enthusiast vehicles in a clean, professional and well-equipped workshop. This is a great opportunity for a technician who enjoys advanced diagnostics, complex fault-finding and high-quality mechanical and electrical repairs.

The Role

As a Diagnostic Vehicle Technician, you will diagnose, maintain and repair a range of specialist vehicles, with a strong focus on accurate fault-finding and quality workmanship. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Vehicle servicing and routine maintenance
  • Mechanical repairs and component replacement
  • Advanced vehicle diagnostics and fault-finding
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic faults
  • Using OEM and specialist diagnostic equipment
  • Investigating complex vehicle faults and identifying root causes
  • Carrying out vehicle health checks and inspections
  • Road testing vehicles where required
  • Completing final quality checks before vehicle handover
  • Following manufacturer repair procedures and technical standards
  • Maintaining accurate job cards and repair records
  • Keeping the workshop clean, safe and organised
  • Sharing technical knowledge and supporting colleagues when required

About You

You’ll be an experienced technician who takes pride in doing the job properly and enjoys solving difficult technical problems. Ideally, you will have:

  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Automotive Technician, Workshop Technician, Vehicle Mechanic or Car Mechanic
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Good mechanical and electrical knowledge
  • Experience using modern vehicle diagnostic systems
  • A good understanding of vehicle electronics and modern automotive technology
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A professional approach and pride in your workmanship
  • A full UK driving licence

Experience with performance cars, prestige vehicles or specialist vehicles would be advantageous, but is not essential.
