A busy, family-run service and diagnostic center in Stoke-on-Trent is recruiting a practical Vehicle Technician to join their close-knit workshop team. Known throughout the local area for honest advice and taking on varied mechanical work across all makes and models, this facility offers a supportive environment where your hands-on expertise is genuinely valued.

  • Salary Range: £35,000 – £45,000 basic per annum (DOE) + workshop efficiency bonus (Holding an active MOT Tester licence is a great advantage and will boost your starting pay rate!)
  • Working Schedule: Monday to Friday schedule (plus Saturdays on a fair rota basis)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Tackle deep mechanical jobs, including timing belts/chains, clutch kits, gearboxes, and engine repairs
  • Use multi-brand diagnostic scanners to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues accurately
  • Conduct routine servicing, safety inspections, brake/suspension overhauls, and pre-MOT checks
  • Provide clear repair notes on job cards and keep service desk staff updated on job timelines
  • Maintain clean work bays and follow standard workshop health and safety protocols

What We Need From You

  • Technical Experience: Time-served mechanic with solid confidence in heavy mechanical repairs and fault isolation
  • Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ / IMI in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time-served garage background)
  • MOT Status: MOT Smart Card / active MOT Tester licence is preferred (with enhanced starting pay), but not essential to apply
  • Mindset: Dependable, detail-oriented technician focused on clean workmanship and first-time fixes
  • Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
