A long-standing independent service and repair hub in Loughborough is actively hiring a practical, skilled Vehicle Technician to join their close-knit workshop team. Handling a wide mix of vehicle makes and models, this facility offers a supportive, technician-focused working environment where practical expertise and quality repairs come first.

What's Included in the Package?

  • Salary Range: £35,000 – £45,000 basic per annum (DOE) + workshop bonus structure (Holding an active MOT Tester licence is a major asset and will push your starting salary to the top of the band!)
  • Working Schedule: Monday to Friday schedule (plus Saturdays on a fair rota basis)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Execute heavy mechanical repairs, including timing chains/belts, clutch kits, engine overhauls, and gearbox swaps
  • Use multi-brand diagnostic equipment to isolate and repair mechanical and electrical faults accurately
  • Complete routine servicing, safety inspections, brake/suspension overhauls, and pre-MOT health checks
  • Document clear technical findings on job cards and keep front-desk staff informed on job timelines
  • Maintain clean working bays and follow standard workshop health and safety protocols

What We Need From You

  • Technical Experience: Time-served mechanic with solid confidence in heavy mechanical work and diagnostic fault isolation
  • Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ / IMI in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time-served garage background)
  • MOT Status: Active MOT Tester licence is preferred (with enhanced starting pay potential), but is not essential to apply
  • Mindset: Dependable, detail-oriented technician focused on clean workmanship and right-first-time fixes
  • Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
