A long-standing independent service and diagnostic specialist in Kettering is expanding its technical team and seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician. Known across Northamptonshire for delivering high workshop standards without corporate micro-management, this facility handles everything from routine servicing to advanced emissions diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and complex mechanical overhauls across a wide mix of multi-brand vehicles.

  • Salary Range: £35,000 – £45,000 basic per annum (DOE) + workshop efficiency bonus scheme
  • Working Schedule: Monday to Friday schedule

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute heavy mechanical procedures, including timing chains/belts, clutch kits, engine overhauls, and gearbox replacements
  • Utilize advanced multi-brand diagnostic platforms to trace, evaluate, and resolve complex electrical and mechanical faults
  • Complete scheduled servicing, multi-point health checks, and general maintenance to high specialist standards
  • Record clear technical notes on digital job cards and communicate repair progress with front-of-house staff
  • Maintain pristine bay cleanliness, tool care, and standard workshop health and safety protocols

Candidate Profile

  • Technical Experience: Time-served mechanic with solid confidence in heavy mechanical repairs and diagnostic fault isolation
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 / IMI Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time-served background)
  • MOT Status: Holding a valid MOT Tester licence is advantageous for starting pay, but is not essential to apply
  • Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
