A busy, independent repair specialist in Birmingham is searching for a skilled Vehicle Technician to join their experienced workshop crew. Known for delivering honest repairs across all vehicle makes and models, this independent facility provides a steady, supportive environment where real mechanical expertise is prioritized over corporate target-chasing.

  • Salary Range: £35,000 – £45,000 basic per annum (DOE) + workshop bonus scheme. (An active MOT Tester licence is a major plus and can push your starting pay to the top end of the scale!)
  • Working Schedule: Monday to Friday schedule (plus Saturdays on a fair rota basis)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Carry out heavy mechanical work, including timing belts/chains, clutch replacements, engine overhauls, and gearbox repairs
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using multi-brand diagnostic scanners
  • Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, brake/suspension work, and health checks across a variety of vehicle brands
  • Write clear technical details on job sheets and communicate repair progress to service desk staff
  • Maintain clean work bays and follow standard workshop safety procedures

What We Need From You

  • Technical Background: Time-served mechanic with solid confidence handling major repair work and diagnostic fault isolation
  • Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ / IMI in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time-served experience)
  • MOT Status: MOT Smart Card / active MOT Tester licence is preferred (with higher pay potential), but not essential to apply
  • Mindset: Dependable, practical technician focused on clean workmanship and first-time fixes
  • Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
