Join Our Team at Hawk-Eye Innovations: UX Designer

Location: Basingstoke, Bristol, or London (Hybrid – 2 days in-office)

Salary: £37,420 – £53,460 per year

Hi, I’m Howard Gadsby, UX Lead at Hawk-Eye Innovations, and we’re looking for a UX Designer to join our growing team.

If you\’re passionate about intuitive interfaces, curious about how users think, and ready to get stuck into projects that shape the future of sport — this could be the role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll join a multidisciplinary team working across a range of cutting-edge sports technologies — from umpiring tools and player tracking systems to live replay and tactical analysis software. No two days are the same, but your work will always have real impact.

Your day-to-day could include:

→ Mapping user journeys and pain points

→ Creating prototypes and UI mockups for complex workflows

→ Collaborating with UX researchers to run usability studies

→ Partnering with developers and product managers to build top-class experiences

→ Presenting your designs to stakeholders across the business

→ Contributing to and evolving our design system and component library

→ Mentoring a junior UX designer or researcher on the team

Your Accountabilities

As a UX Designer, you’ll be expected to:

→ Work closely within a multidisciplinary team, including stakeholders, operations, product, and developers

→ Collaborate with product managers and UX researchers to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points

→ Understand work across multiple product streams, spotting common goals and design patterns

→ Contribute to team processes and occasionally lead regular UX meetings

→ Handle ambiguity in projects, uncover core user needs, and define clear pathways forward

→ Help maintain and evolve our shared design component library

→ Map user journeys and ensure designs directly address identified needs

→ Simplify complex workflows for non-technical users through clear design

→ Iterate on design ideas and prototypes to communicate product direction

→ Present design concepts and work confidently to stakeholders across the business

→ Support or lead usability testing in partnership with the UX research team

→ Collaborate closely with developers to bring your designs to life

→ Design towards usability benchmarks and monitor how we perform against them

→ Champion user needs in product discussions

→ Prioritise your workload effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment

What We’re Looking For

→ A university degree in UX, Interaction Design, HCI, or a related field

→ At least 3 years of commercial experience in UX, product, or interaction design roles

→ A portfolio showing thoughtful, user-focused design on complex applications (not just mobile)

→ Experience conducting usability testing and applying insights to your work

→ Strong communication and collaboration skills

→ Comfortable working across multiple streams and juggling priorities

→ An analytical mindset and high attention to detail

→ Knowledge and experience of creating and using design systems

→ Familiarity with tools like Figma, Axure, or Adobe Creative Suite

→ Understanding of front-end technologies and how designs are implemented

Bonus Points For:

→ Experience in sport, broadcasting, or live event software

→ Speaking a second language beyond English

Reward, Benefits, and Wellness

We offer a comprehensive package to support your growth and wellbeing.

→ 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays)

→ Enhanced pension scheme with 5% matching

→ Complimentary Unmind app for mental health support

→ Access to sporting events and tickets

Equal Opportunity Employer
