Join Our Team as Technical Engineering Lead at Hawk-Eye Innovations. At Hawk-Eye, we build technology that powers some of the most exciting and critical moments in sport, from instant replays and broadcast augmentation to officiating systems trusted by leagues, federations, broadcasters, and millions of fans worldwide.
We are exploring a new generation of tracking services for elite and semi-professional sport. The work is early-stage, the direction is clear, and it is being built by a lean, cross-functional squad moving at an unmatched pace driven by agentic development. As our first products move into field trials and commercial launch, with further sports to follow on the same platform, we need an exceptional leader to set how we build.
Your job isn't to be the fastest individual coder in the room; it is to amplify the entire squad through AI. Working alongside the Value Stream Lead and the squad's Technical Authority, you will provide the delivery structure, quality standards, and agentic development environment the team can trust. While bringing these groundbreaking products to market is the overarching goal, your core functional mission is to shape and scale an AI-first engineering culture.
We’re looking for an experienced Technical Leader with a full-stack or platform engineering background who already uses agentic tools as their default rather than a novelty. You understand data pipelines and edge-to-cloud compute, but more importantly, you know how to build, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams to achieve extraordinary outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Drive Commercial Delivery: Lead the squad to successfully bring next-generation tracking products through field trials and into full commercial launch.
- Shape Agentic Development Culture: Champion AI transformation by organizing development around AI-delegation and AI-augmentation models. Establish and own the squad’s agentic development environment within defined security and IP guardrails.
- Set the Bar & Hire: Build high-bar development plans for the squad, lead hiring for open engineering roles, and recruit talent with proven fluency in agentic development at scale.
- Streamline Delivery & Process: Turn product vision into managed backlogs, sprint plans, and execution roadmaps. Instrument human-in-the-loop gates that maintain high quality without slowing down velocity.
- People Leadership & Growth: Line-manage senior engineers, own team health and career development, and mentor engineers into 10x ways of working, focusing on orchestration and strategic judgment over manual coding.
- Bridge Product & Engineering: Partner closely with Product Leadership and the squad's Technical Authority on architecture, sequencing, and continuous delivery, keeping the team laser-focused on impactful, measurable outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Technical Leadership: Demonstrated track record leading engineering teams to success through continuous delivery and structured execution without relying on engineering heroism.
- Full-Stack / Platform Mastery: Solid foundation across full-stack development, data pipelines, and edge-to-cloud compute architecture.
- Agentic AI Fluency: Deep, practical experience using AI-assisted and agentic development tools as your default workflow, with the ability to prove fluency at scale.
- Product & Commercial Mindset: Strong balance between engineering excellence and business impact, with a clear sense of ownership and commercial drive.
- People-Centric Leadership: An empathetic, growth-oriented leadership style that recognizes awesome people as the core foundation of a great team.
UK Benefits
- Annual Leave: 25 Days per year
- Enhanced Pension Scheme
- Flexible Working: Hybrid model (2 days a week required in one of our offices, Basingstoke or London)
- Access to Sporting Events: Priority access and tickets to major sporting events.
- Sony Group Discounts: Generous discounts across Sony Group products and services.
We’re committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace. Everyone is treated fairly, regardless of gender, race, religion, age, disability, or background. We want you to be your best and truest self here.
