What This Job Is All About

As a Revenue Accountant Business Partner, you will be a critical part of the Hawk-Eye and Sony Global Finance Accounting (SGFA) Team. You will manage and oversee revenue recognition and reporting to ensure complete and accurate monthly actual reporting. You will report directly to the Head of Accounting and Reporting while interacting regularly with the wider Sony group, including Corporate Planning, Tax, Treasury, and BPO. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical accounting knowledge of revenue recognition standards (IFRS 15), excellent analytical skills, and the business acumen necessary to engage effectively with various stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue Recognition: Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in line with customer contracts under Sony’s Corporate Accounting Policy as per IFRS 15.
  • Intercompany Transfer Pricing: Raise invoices/accrue transfer pricing for month end reporting.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and provide detailed variance analysis and explanations for group reporting.
  • Business Partnering: Partner with commercial leads, operations, and P&L owners on new deal modeling, contract setup, and invoicing schedules.
  • Strategic Oversight: Maintain oversight of contract status by developing and maintaining a contract and revenue recognition database.
  • Risk Management: Safeguard the balance sheet by providing regular "early warnings" of risks and opportunities related to contract assets and liabilities.
  • Process Improvement: Drive automation and efficiencies in revenue management, modeling, and reporting, including the implementation of new contract management and billing tools.
  • Audit & Compliance: Serve as the primary contact for statutory audits concerning revenue and ensure all required analysis and supporting schedules are provided.
  • Credit: Coordinate with AR and Credit teams to ensure customer due diligence (KYC), credit assessments, and bad debt provision calculations are managed effectively.
  • Collections: Liaise and support credit controller with reducing aged debt balances.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Accurate and timely actual reporting with clear analytics explaining variances.
  • Clean audit opinions for all revenue-related matters.
  • Efficient and effective support provided to the HEI business, measured by service quality benchmarks.

What We Need From You

Essential

  • Experience: 4+ years of accounting experience, specifically in revenue or project accounting roles.
  • Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding and demonstrated application of revenue recognition under IFRS 15, preferably with managed services contracts.
  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen, analytical problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Tools: Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with project accounting tools or databases.

Preferred

  • Systems: Experience with SAP S/4HANA, Power BI, and SharePoint.
  • Environment: Experience working in a lean accounting environment or a multinational matrix organization.
  • Mindset: A strong desire for continuous improvement and the ability to drive and sustain change.
  • Industry: An interest in or understanding of Sports Entertainment Technology and services.
