We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Basingstoke; someone who is brave, acts like an owner, and is ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible in sports tech.
As our Financial Accountant, you will be a vital part of our global finance function. You will ensure the integrity of our financial data across the head office, subsidiaries, and international branches. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and is eager to drive process improvements and automation.
Your Responsibilities:
- Operational Expense Management: Ensure timely and accurate recognition of personnel and travel expenses relating to operations, with special emphasis on allocation to relevant projects to meet both management and statutory branch accounting requirements.
- Process Oversight: Establish and oversee a robust process for other expense recognition areas, such as freelancers’ and developers’ onboarding processes and cost tracking.
- Balance Sheet Integrity: Safeguard the balance sheet with management and oversight of timely reconciliation, providing regular early warnings of risks and opportunities.
- Payroll & Compliance: Manage monthly payroll bookings for the head office, subsidiaries, and branches. Liaise with providers for potential interface implementation.
- Financial Reporting: Meet monthly close deadlines, communicating any risk of delays to the Head of Accounting as early as possible. Report to the group and provide sound analysis on actual vs. forecast and budget.
- Statutory Support: Support annual statutory account preparation by maintaining accurate ledger data for the head office, subsidiaries, and branches.
- Insightful Analytics: Provide insightful analytics to management and the business on cost performance, bringing value-add by proposing savings and efficiency opportunities to support decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive the implementation of improvement initiatives that bring value to the business through cost efficiencies and automation, while maintaining governance and accounting compliance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication across business partners and stakeholders to provide value-add reporting insights and make a business impact.
- Governance & Control: Identify and highlight governance and compliance requirements and potential gaps. Understand business operations, organization, and processes to ensure adequate systems, controls, and compliance are in place.
What are we looking for from you?
- Qualified/Part-Qualified Professional: You are a qualified or finalist-level accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of accounting principles and statutory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Detail-Oriented: A commitment to accuracy and meeting tight deadlines in a global reporting environment.
- Systems & Automation: Experience with ERP systems (SAP Business One preferred) and a passion for driving automation and efficiency.
- Communication Skills: Ability to work closely with the business to resolve gaps and provide clear financial insights.
