Salary: £47,000 – £48,000 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 4:00pm or 9:00am to 5:00pm

The Opportunity

Hawk3 Talent Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Works Delivery Manager to join their established team based in Sheffield. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will oversee both planned and reactive works across the Eastern Region, working closely with commercial, engineering and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery while maintaining strong client relationships.

The Role

As a Works Delivery Manager, you will take ownership of multiple projects from initial planning through to completion. You'll provide leadership to site teams, manage programme delivery, monitor commercial performance and ensure all works are completed in accordance with client requirements, industry standards and health and safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the successful delivery of multiple Network Rail and rail infrastructure contracts across the Eastern Region.
  • Undertake pre-site scoping visits to identify project requirements and support effective planning and mobilisation.
  • Lead, motivate and manage site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to review estimates, monitor project costs and support cost value reconciliation.
  • Monitor project progress, analyse performance and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Prepare and implement site-specific management plans in line with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.
  • Ensure all site documentation, contract plans and project records are completed accurately and comply with client specifications.
  • Coordinate project programmes, including access arrangements, possessions, isolations, traffic management and third-party approvals.
  • Identify commercial, operational and programme risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Support the preparation and management of Early Warning Notices (EWNs), Compensation Events and associated contractual documentation.
  • Carry out regular site audits to ensure compliance with company procedures, client standards and statutory regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture across all projects.
  • Mentor and develop site personnel, identifying opportunities for training and career development.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of five years' experience delivering civil engineering or rail infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing planned and reactive works frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and working practices.
  • Previous experience leading and managing operational site teams.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
  • Commercial awareness with experience monitoring project costs and supporting cost value reconciliation.
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC4 experience would be advantageous).
  • Strong programme planning and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Personal Track Safety (PTS) – Essential.
  • Controller of Site Safety (COSS).
  • Individual Working Alone (IWA).
  • SMSTS.
  • MAPM or equivalent Project Management qualification.
  • NVQ Level 6/7.
  • NEBOSH.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator.
