About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and creative Womenswear Designer to join their Design Team on a maternity cover contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the evolution of their womenswear collections, bringing fresh ideas while maintaining the brand s distinctive style.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced position that combines creativity with commercial awareness. You ll be managing multiple projects and deadlines, keeping the customer at the heart of every decision.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and interpret emerging fashion trends to inform and inspire seasonal collections.
- Develop design themes that balance trend relevance with the brand s signature aesthetic.
- Design across key womenswear categories, including dresses, jackets, graphic tops, and nightwear.
- Create graphics, prints, and embroidery designs that align with the brand s visual identity.
- Collaborate with the Buying Team to deliver cohesive, commercially viable ranges.
- Source and develop new fabrics, trims, and finishes to enhance product quality and innovation.
- Produce detailed tech packs and liaise with suppliers to ensure accurate sample development.
- Participate in sign-off meetings and seasonal range reviews.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including attending local and international development trips where required.
- Work cross-functionally with other departments to align on seasonal strategy, timelines, and customer insights.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years experience as a womenswear designer.
- Proven experience designing dresses, jackets, graphic tops, and prints.
- Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current and future fashion trends.
- Ability to develop seasonal themes that reinforce the brand identity.
- Experience designing graphics, embroidery, and prints.
- Experience working directly with suppliers on product development.
- Ability to create accurate, detailed tech packs.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in a lifestyle or branded fashion environment.
- Experience collaborating closely with buyers.
- Experience designing nightwear.
- Knowledge of sourcing fabrics, trims, and finishes.
- Experience working with Far East suppliers.
- Proven ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities effectively.
