Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Applications Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation operating in a technical, customer-facing environment. This role is ideal for a recent engineering graduate or junior engineer looking to develop a career that combines engineering design, applications support, and technical sales.
You will work closely with customers and internal teams to understand application requirements, develop suitable engineering solutions, and support projects from enquiry through to manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a technical sales and applications support service to customers
- Act as a first point of contact for customer enquiries via phone and digital meetings
- Analyse customer requirements and solve design challenges with tailored solutions
- Validate applications and prepare costings and quotations
- Design mechanical systems such as slide systems, gantries, aluminium frameworks, and related products
- Produce and modify designs using 3D CAD software
- Liaise with internal manufacturing teams to support the build of designed systems
- Manage multiple enquiries effectively while meeting deadlines
Candidate Requirements
- Engineering qualification (apprenticeship background preferred; HNC/HND or degree considered)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Confident engaging with customers via video conferencing and digital platforms
- Organised with good time management skills
- Mechanical aptitude with an interest in machine mechanisms
- Good level of Maths and English
- Competent user of 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
