An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality or Technical Supervisor to join a busy Quality and Technical team based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement through testing, auditing, investigation, and quality assurance activities.
This position is ideal for a quality professional with experience in a food, feed, manufacturing, or similar regulated environment who is passionate about maintaining high standards and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct product and environmental quality testing, including NIR testing where applicable.
- Collect and manage samples for internal and external laboratory analysis.
- Arrange the transfer of samples to external laboratories.
- Record and report testing results, highlighting issues promptly.
- Carry out trend analysis and prepare statistical and quality performance reports.
- Manage non-conforming products and returns, ensuring appropriate recording, investigation, and corrective actions.
- Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and support resolution processes.
- Complete product traceability exercises and support audit requirements.
- Review and improve quality processes, procedures, and systems.
- Maintain quality documentation and document control systems.
- Support external audits and regulatory compliance activities.
- Conduct internal quality, housekeeping, and compliance audits.
- Report audit findings and support corrective action implementation.
- Coordinate calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a quality-focused role.
- Experience working with external laboratories.
- Knowledge of feed testing techniques (NIR) would be advantageous.
- Understanding of HACCP principles would be beneficial.
- Previous experience within a food, feed, manufacturing, or similar environment is desirable.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Flexible, adaptable, and results-driven.
