The Role

As a CNC Mill/Turn Machinist, you will be responsible for setting, proving out and operating multi-axis CNC machinery to manufacture precision-engineered components to exact customer specifications.

Working from technical drawings, you will ensure all components meet strict dimensional, quality and traceability requirements while maintaining efficient production output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, operate and prove out multi-axis CNC Mill/Turn machines.
  • Manufacture components to detailed engineering drawings.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, geometric tolerances and surface finish requirements.
  • Conduct first-off inspections and stage inspections.
  • Work to tight tolerances and demanding quality standards.
  • Carry out quality inspections on completed components.
  • Prepare tooling, fixtures and materials required for production.
  • Liaise with Production Engineers and Management to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Adhere to all health, safety and quality procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience setting and operating CNC Mill/Turn machines.
  • Experience with Mazatrol controls (Smooth preferred) and/or Fanuc controls.
  • Experience machining precision-engineered components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of tolerances, surface finishes and inspection requirements.
  • Competent using a range of precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience carrying out first-off and in-process inspections.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and team-working skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Mazak machining centres.
  • Star Sliding Head machines.
  • Multi-spindle machining.
  • Aerospace, defence, nuclear, medical or other highly regulated manufacturing sectors.
