The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and hands‑on Maintenance Engineer to join a busy and growing manufacturing site. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to maximise uptime and reliability.
- Responding quickly to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and implementing effective repairs.
- Maintaining and repairing a range of mechanical and electrical equipment including motors, drives, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Supporting installation, upgrades, and improvement projects across the site.
- Identifying root causes of recurring issues and driving long‑term solutions.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with regulations and best practice.
- Keeping accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Providing flexible support across shifts and occasionally across multiple sites.
What We’re Looking For
Essential- Proven experience in a maintenance role within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Multi‑skilled background, ideally electrically biased (mechanical candidates with some electrical knowledge considered).
- Strong fault‑finding skills and the ability to read electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of motors, drives, and control systems.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Good IT skills and ability to maintain records.
- Flexible, team‑oriented approach with the ability to work independently.
- Full UK driving licence and own transport (location 15 minutes outside of Swindon).
- Electrical qualification beneficial (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds, 17th or 18th Edition).
- Mechanical Qualifications Or Strong Mechanical Experience.
- Welding, fabrication, or machining skills.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, and gearboxes.
- PLC fault‑finding experience.
- Knowledge of BS 7671 testing and inspection.
