Quality Assurance Technician
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Hours: 5 days out of 7 (flexibility required)
Contract Type: Permanent
The Quality Assurance (QA) role supports the Technical Department in ensuring that food safety, quality, and compliance standards are met throughout the production process. This is a hands‑on position requiring attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards across production areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete and verify all quality and technical documentation, including start‑up checks, batch codes, and temperature logs.
- Monitor production lines for product quality, correct labelling, and specification compliance.
- Check ingredients, raw materials, and finished products for shelf life and temperature accuracy.
- Conduct hygiene, GMP, and PPE compliance checks across all departments.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of HACCP and BRC systems.
- Perform testing such as ATP, gluten, and environmental swabbing as required.
- Investigate and close out customer complaints in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain up‑to‑date supplier and service provider documentation and certifications.
- Raise, manage, and close non‑conformances and concessions.
- Work with the NPD and Technical teams during product launches to ensure specification accuracy.
- Carry out internal audits, traceability tests, and equipment calibrations in line with schedules.
- Promote continuous improvement and adherence to company quality and safety procedures.
Experience & Skills Needed
- Proven experience in a Quality Assurance or Technical role within a food manufacturing environment (chilled or ready‑to‑eat preferred).
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC standards, and UK/EU food safety legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively across production and technical teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and business needs.
- A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field is desirable.
