Our client, a well-established transport and logistics business based in Leeds (LS10), is seeking a Transport Operator / Transport Planner to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with transport planning or logistics experience to join a busy and fast-paced operation.
Working Hours
10-hour shifts (including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break). Working between 6:00am and 6:00pm. Hours may vary to meet operational requirements and provide shift cover.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Transport Planning team to achieve daily delivery and operational targets.
- Assist with transport planning and driver communications.
- Monitor vehicle movements and make real-time operational decisions to resolve delays and disruptions.
- Analyse operational data to identify trends and support continuous improvement.
- Build strong working relationships with customers and drivers, delivering a high level of customer service.
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports using transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Use systems including TOPS, VBS platforms, Excel and Word.
- Work in line with the company's values, promoting honesty, transparency and teamwork across the operation.
- The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience within a transport planning, transport operations or logistics environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads.
- Customer-focused with a proactive approach to problem solving.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using TOPS (container transport system).
- Experience using various Vehicle Booking Systems (VBS).
- Previous experience within container haulage or a container transport environment.
