About the Role
We are recruiting a Lead Quality Engineer for a well‑established advanced manufacturing business specialising in electrical sensing and electronic components. This is a hands‑on senior quality role where you will play a key part in ensuring products meet internal standards and demanding customer expectations. Working within a small Quality team and reporting directly to the Quality & EHS Manager, you will take ownership of quality performance and act swiftly when non‑conformances are identified.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake and oversee electrical and mechanical inspection of finished components
- Carry out qualification testing in line with internal and customer specifications
- Maintain inspection and test records in accordance with quality requirements
- Support analysis of customer returns, internal rejects and failures
- Assist with PPAP, FMEA, control plans and process flow documentation
- Support in‑line gauge management and process capability studies
- Contribute to quality planning and design activities using statistical techniques
- Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications
- Support implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems, including progression toward IATF 16949
- Deputise for the Quality & EHS Manager on quality matters as required
- Provide guidance and oversight to final inspection personnel
About You
You will be an experienced Quality professional from a manufacturing or automotive supply‑chain environment, confident working cross‑functionally and dealing directly with customers.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- HNC / HND qualified (or equivalent)
- 5-7 years' experience within certified management systems (ISO / IATF 16949)
- Background in electrical / electronic component manufacturing
- Automotive industry experience and exposure to OEM customers
- Strong customer quality assurance and audit experience
- Proven track record of continuous quality improvement
- Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem‑solving skills
Technical Skills
- Multi‑skilled across engineering disciplines
- Able to interpret technical documents, schematics and circuit diagrams
- Fully PC literate, including standard office software
Personal Attributes
- Self‑disciplined, conscientious and detail‑focused
- Confident, assertive and results‑driven
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused manufacturing environment
- Willing to support hands‑on activities across production areas
