A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Advisor to join our team on a fixed‑term basis, supporting a busy operational site. This is a hands‑on generalist role where you’ll be the first point of contact for day‑to‑day HR queries from operational colleagues, while also supporting managers with employee relations and wider HR activity. You’ll be based onsite at our Derby (DE74) location, working closely with a small, friendly, and like‑minded HR team who value collaboration, pragmatism, and a down‑to‑earth approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for operational employees, resolving day‑to‑day HR queries such as pay issues, system access, holiday approvals, and general employment questions.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practice.
- Manage and support ER cases including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, and performance matters.
- Ensure accurate and timely HR administration, including documentation, reporting, and maintaining employee records.
- Support HR processes across the employee lifecycle (onboarding, probation, absence management, etc.).
- Build strong working relationships with operational teams, promoting a positive and visible HR presence onsite.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes and employee experience.
About You
- Previous experience in a generalist HR Advisor role, ideally within an industrial, manufacturing, logistics, or similar operational environment.
- Confident handling day‑to‑day HR queries and providing practical, solution‑focused support.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience managing ER cases from start to finish.
- Comfortable working onsite in a fast‑paced, people‑centric environment.
- Approachable, resilient, and able to build trust quickly with colleagues at all levels.
- A team player who enjoys working closely with others in a supportive office environment.
