An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a well-established manufacturing business at its Nuneaton site. Reporting to the CNC Team Leader, you will play a key role in producing high-quality tooling and components within a precision engineering environment. This role operates on a split double shift pattern, offering a competitive salary and additional shift allowance where applicable.
The Role
The primary function of this position is CNC machining of tooling for composite component manufacture. You’ll be working with a variety of materials including epoxy boards, carbon composite parts, aluminium, steel, and other metals, producing bespoke components, jigs, and fixtures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines efficiently, ensuring optimal speeds, feeds, and machining practices
- Set up components using fixtures, turn-over plates, and other methods in a timely manner
- Monitor cycle times to ensure consistency with quoted job timings
- Measure tooling and components accurately using micrometers, verniers, and other equipment
- Maximise machine uptime and spindle utilisation, including running multiple machines where appropriate
- Continuously improve processes and share feedback with management and CAM programmers
- Work closely with the CNC Team Leader to ensure materials, tooling, and priorities are aligned
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety
- Carry out preventative maintenance checks on machines
- Support other areas of the site as required
- Interpret engineering drawings where necessary
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years’ CNC machining experience
- Strong experience setting and operating CNC machines
- Ability to work to tight tolerances in a manufacturing environment
Desirable:
- Experience with Heidenhain, Siemens, or Mazatrol controls
- Time-served machinist background
- Experience in bespoke or low-volume production (non-production line work)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
