Hawes Down Primary School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Play Worker to join our friendly wraparound care team. You will support the delivery of high-quality breakfast and after-school provision, creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children aged 4-11. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children in a range of play activities (indoor and outdoor)
- Ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at all times
- Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development through play
- Serve light meals/refreshments prepared by our catering team in line with food hygiene standards
- Maintain a clean and organised play space
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies at all times
- Work positively as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and parents
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with children (in a school, childcare or play setting) is desirable
- A positive, energetic, and patient approach
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Ability to engage children in creative and active play
Desirable
- Relevant childcare qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Playwork, Childcare, or similar)
- First Aid certification
- Food hygiene certificate
