The Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) will work 36 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:27), inclusive of a 45-minute unpaid lunch break and staff meeting attendance. The salary is Grade 4 spinal points 10 – 15, with a pro rata salary of £27,159 – £29,462 p.a. (FTE £31,611 - £33,987 p.a.) on a permanent contract, working 39 weeks per year (not including inset days).

Job Purpose and Content:
The HLTA is a member of a team of professionals that includes teachers and other classroom support staff. The team works together to care for and educate the pupils in the school. The HLTA makes a specific subject and/or curriculum contribution to the school’s fully inclusive teaching and learning programme. The HLTA works under the direction and control of the headteacher and will generally be deployed by the AHT or Year Group Leader. The HLTA will teach individuals, groups, and whole classes either on their own or in the presence of a teacher and/or other teaching assistants. The HLTA may manage a team of teaching assistants, supervise their work, and contribute to their professional development.
