Elm Park Primary School is a warm, inclusive and proudly ambitious school where we are all “aspiring to be the best we can be!” We know that children thrive when the adults around them feel heard, respected and supported. That is why this role matters so much. We are looking for a compassionate, organised and quietly tenacious professional to be a trusted bridge between home, school and partner agencies. You will help families navigate challenges, strengthen attendance and engagement, and ensure safeguarding concerns are recognised, recorded and acted upon with care and rigour.

Our forward-thinking Senior Leadership Team is committed to innovation and empowering staff to thrive. We are a welcoming and supportive team where every voice is valued, wellbeing is prioritised, and collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.

The difference you will make:

  • Build trusting, non-judgemental relationships with children and families, including those facing complex or changing circumstances.
  • Provide practical and emotional support, parenting guidance, workshops and sensitive signposting to specialist services.
  • Lead focused work to improve attendance and punctuality, particularly for pupils who are persistently absent or vulnerable.
  • Work closely with the SENDCo to support families through SEND processes, including EHCP-related support where appropriate.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, responding promptly to concerns and contributing to early help assessments, referrals, plans and reviews.
  • Maintain timely, accurate and confidential safeguarding records, including effective use and monitoring of CPOMS.
  • Coordinate confidently with social care, health, police and other partners, attending multi-agency meetings and ensuring agreed actions happen.
  • Champion the child’s voice, helping every pupil feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

How you will help Elm Park ASPIRE:

  • Achieve: help children and families recognise progress, remove barriers and take the next achievable step.
  • Success: notice and celebrate the wins — especially the small ones that took enormous courage.
  • Perseverance: stay calm, curious and consistent when situations are complex and solutions take time.
  • Independence: work with families, not simply for them, building confidence and sustainable change.
  • Respect: listen without judgement, protect dignity and value every family’s identity and experience.
  • Enthusiasm: bring hope, warmth and positive energy — alongside excellent professional boundaries.

The person we are hoping to find:

  • You will combine warmth with sound professional judgement.
  • You will know that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility — and that excellent family support depends on careful listening, reliable follow-through and clear records.
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification (for example, childcare, social care, counselling, youth work or education), together with GCSE English and mathematics at grade C/4 or equivalent.
  • At least three years’ relevant post-qualification experience working with children and families in a statutory, voluntary or education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding practice, early help, barriers to learning and the services available to children and families.
  • Excellent communication skills: approachable with families, reassuring with children, clear with professionals and appropriately challenging when needed.
  • The organisation to manage a varied caseload, competing priorities, sensitive information and deadlines without losing sight of the child.
  • Confidence using digital systems and producing accurate reports and records; experience of CPOMS would be helpful.
  • The flexibility and resilience to respond to change, work sensitively under pressure and maintain healthy professional boundaries.
  • Has a good sense of humour (non-negotiable).
  • A commitment to inclusion, equality and Elm Park’s ASPIRE values.
  • Enjoys the important things in life: dogs, biscuits, chocolate and being part of a happy, supportive team.

What you can expect from us:

  • A genuinely welcoming school and federation team who understand the importance — and complexity — of this role.
  • Supportive leadership, regular safeguarding supervision and access to relevant professional development.
  • Strong partnership working with colleagues, families and external agencies.
  • A values-led culture where inclusion is lived, not laminated; good ideas are welcomed; and people look out for one another.
  • The daily privilege of making a visible difference to children and families (plus the occasional biscuit when the day calls for one).

Come and Say Hello! We’d love to meet you. Informal visits are warmly welcomed—come see us in action!

Please apply online. Closing date for applications: Monday 5th October 2026 at 9:00am. Interviews: Thursday 22nd October 2026.

If you’re ready to inspire, support, challenge, and laugh (daily), we’d love to hear from you. Bonus points if you bring biscuit recommendations to interview.
