Scargill Junior School, part of the Hornchurch Academy Trust, is seeking a Head Teacher Learning Assistant (HLTA) to work full‑time (31.25 hours per week) during term time.

Role Overview

Your role will involve supporting teaching and learning within the classroom. You will also cover and lead class teaching as and when appropriate, using your diverse skill set to maintain flexibility and responsiveness to pupils’ needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of curriculum activities in the classroom.
  • Cover and lead lessons across subjects and year groups, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to plan and reflect on instructional strategies.
  • Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, safe and stimulating learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Good maths and English skills.
  • A diverse set of skills enabling flexible support or leadership in teaching and learning.
  • Passion for teaching and learning, and a commitment to striving for the best outcomes for children.
  • Creativity and strategic thinking in the classroom.
