The Hornchurch Academy Trust is looking to appoint a Group SENDCO to support the SEND improvement team. The role of the Group SENDCO will play an important part in supporting the development of Inclusion within the Trust. The Group SENDCO will lead and manage SEND provision across Upminster Infant School and Upminster Junior School, under the direction of the Director of SEND & Inclusion. As well as making a significant contribution to the strategic direction of Inclusion, they will be responsible for:

  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the two schools, ensuring an inclusive environment for all pupils.
  • Identify and assess pupils with additional needs at an early stage, supporting timely intervention.
  • Develop, implement and regularly review Individual Learning Plan and EHCP provision, including annual reviews.
  • Work closely with class teachers to adapt teaching strategies and support adaptive learning.
  • Liaise effectively with parents and carers to build strong partnerships and support pupil outcomes.
  • Coordinate with external agencies.
  • Provide training, advice and practical support to staff on SEND and inclusive classroom practice.
  • Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with SEND legislation and guidance.
