About The Role

The Marine Engineer will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and safety of our company vessels. You will lead on engineering maintenance activities across the fleet, ensuring that all vessels and plant (marine and shoreside) are maintained to a high standard and remain ready to support daily operations. You will take a proactive approach to planned and preventative maintenance, fault finding and repairs, helping to minimise downtime and ensure equipment performs efficiently. Working closely with the wider Marine Team, you will also provide additional support during operations when required, contributing to the safe and effective running of the team. The role requires a strong working knowledge of marine diesel engines, planned maintenance systems and small craft operating procedures. You will demonstrate a commitment to safe working practices, high engineering standards and continuous improvement, while remaining flexible and willing to support the wider team as required.

What You'll Do

  • Work alongside the vessel skipper and other crew members to ensure company owned vessels are maintained and operated to the highest standards
  • Assist with workboat duties
  • Assist with the safe mooring and unmooring of vessels visiting the Port
  • Handle ropes, lines and associated equipment during vessel berthing and departure operations

Safety compliance and emergency response

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to minimise risks and ensure a safe working environment for everyone
  • Participate in safety checks, drills and operational procedures to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations including fire, medical incidents and other marine emergencies in accordance with established procedures

Communication, documentation and reporting

  • Maintain clear communication with vessel masters, crew members and port colleagues to coordinate operations effectively
  • Maintain accurate operational records, including navigation logs, maintenance records and other relevant documentation
  • Assist in the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) relating to marine and port operations

We intentionally don’t list all the things that the role involves. As a developing company, we often wear many hats to get involved in things outside of the “day job” to ensure our experiences are diverse, challenging and ultimately, help to make our company a success.
