About the Program

Havencare is a forward-thinking and growing charity. We have been making a difference for 35+ years, changing the lives of people who have learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and other support needs.

At Havencare, first and foremost, we are looking for outstanding people who align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful and forward-thinking person and are excited for the opportunity for you to join our team, supporting Mr S in the Newlyn area.

About the Role

Mr S currently lives in a bungalow in Newlyn. He requires continuous support to live with Epilepsy, Dysexecutive syndrome and the effects of a brain injury that include fatigue, cognitive impairments and difficulties with concentration or processing information. At times his social interaction and decision-making require intervention and redirecting.

No two days are the same. He has false, fabricated and disoriented but unintentional memories that he truly believes are true. These aren\’t deliberate lies; they are his memories. He will talk about many different topics which can be a mix of factual and non-factual information.

One day he can be motivated to do many things but the next day may be different. It is very important to him that his team understand this, and the impact he can cause him. Mr S needs you to work in a way that is responsive, proactive and consider ongoing adjustments.

Mr S is mobile but will sometimes use sticks to help with balance. He can do a lot for himself but needs prompting and reassurance with certain aspects of day-to-day living. He will require support to access the community, to attend appointments and meetings.

He enjoys spending time wandering around the local area, having a coffee and watching the world pass by. He is a bit of a foody and will often choose to eat out, relaxing in The Queens Hotel or enjoying hearty pub grub.

About you

A driver with own car and who is happy to use for work would be beneficial.

A calm-natured, patient and good-humoured person with an awareness of your emotional resilience.

Confident to support distressed behaviour.

Ideally you will understand how living with an acquired brain injury can affect day-to-day life.

You will enjoy the autonomy of lone working while ensuring good communication with your colleagues and family.

Happy to navigate systems used efficiently and fulfil your responsibilities of the role.

About the working pattern

This post is for 1 shift a week with a sleep over.

As a flexible employer we are open to discussing what work patterns are mutually beneficial to meet the requirements of Mr S.

We are open to discussing an increase in hours and exploring the opportunity to work with other people for the right candidate.

We will provide you with:

  • Quality training and development opportunities to maintain and enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Free 24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support your health and wellbeing
  • Big financial rewards through our Refer a Friend Scheme
  • Vouchers at Christmas, your work anniversary, and your birthday
  • Paid DBS
  • …and more!

Closing date

Planned for 13th February 2026, however applications will be considered as and when received and may close earlier if the right candidate is identified.

Offer subject to:

  • A satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and subsequent registration for the DBS Update Service
  • 2 acceptable / satisfactory references
  • Evidence of eligibility / right to work in the UK
