About the role

Are you a qualified solicitor with a passion for consumer finance? If so, we want to hear from you! Haven is looking for a highly experienced Regulatory Counsel to join our Legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will act as the lead advisor on all regulatory matters, ensuring the business conducts itself in accordance with its statutory, regulatory and conduct obligations, including those required by the FCA and the Gambling Commission.

You'll be a trusted adviser to the Haven board, working closely with the Executive team, Finance, Commercial and Caravan Sales colleagues to provide expert guidance across legal, regulatory, compliance, corporate governance and conduct risk issues, overseeing the frameworks that keep our business safe, compliant and well-governed.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role for a commercially minded regulatory specialist who thrives on complexity, enjoys shaping policy and process, and can translate regulatory obligations into practical business outcomes.

Your Opportunity

  • Act as the lead advisor to Haven on all regulatory matters, including FCA, Gambling Commission and wider statutory obligations
  • Be a trusted adviser to the Haven board, providing regular reporting and constructive challenge
  • Provide expert legal, regulatory, compliance, corporate governance and conduct risk advice to the Executive team and internal stakeholders
  • Provide consumer lending advice and compliance oversight
  • Provide advice and guidance on financial crime and money laundering, overseeing the processes and controls that ensure ongoing compliance
  • Oversee FCA obligations for Haven, ensuring robust processes and controls are in place
  • Support the administration and governance of the Guernsey insurance captive
  • Advise on Haven's financial promotions and advertising from a legal and regulatory perspective
  • Oversee the development of policies, processes and procedures to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards
  • Assist in the management and investigation of incidents relating to legal, regulatory and compliance matters, including whistleblowing, consumer credit, consumer rights and data protection
  • Support commercial projects with clear, pragmatic legal and regulatory advice
  • Stay up to date with corporate law and statutory obligations to ensure corporate compliance is maintained

What we'd like you to bring

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales
  • End-to-end consumer finance expertise, gained either in-house or in private practice
  • Previous experience within financial services, lending, consumer credit or motor finance
  • Good knowledge of consumer credit laws and regulations and consumer duty
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Risk identification and assessment capability, with sound judgement
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong prioritisation and workflow management, with the ability to execute at pace
  • Proven track record of understanding business processes and supporting change
  • Confident managing and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Understanding of the leisure or hospitality sector (desirable, not essential)
