We’re looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Accounting Finance team at Haven on a permanent, full-time basis. In this role, you’ll provide day-to-day accounting support, helping to ensure accurate financial processing, timely reconciliations and high-quality reporting.
Working closely with the Finance Manager and a range of business stakeholders, you’ll play an important part in maintaining strong financial controls while contributing to continuous improvements across our reporting processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in accounting principles who is keen to develop their career within a collaborative and supportive finance team, with exposure to management reporting, audits and stakeholder engagement.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting day-to-day accounting activities, including accruals and prepayments
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations within monthly deadlines
- Ensuring postings are accurate and completed within agreed timeframes
- Working with operational teams to gather information for reporting
- Assisting with management reporting and ad hoc financial analysis
- Supporting internal and external audit processes
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial reporting processes
- Communicating reporting progress, risks and improvement opportunities
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
What we’d like you to bring:
- A degree in finance, accounting, business, or working towards a professional accounting qualification
- Good understanding of accounting principles, regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience using financial systems such as SAP, QuickBooks or similar ERP tools
- Strong Excel skills for analysis, modelling and reporting
- Experience reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate financial records
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with finance and non-finance teams
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
