The Role
The SEO & GEO Business Director role is a high‑profile role, overseeing a team of 10+ strategy specialists across London and Leeds. Reporting into the Head of SEO & GEO, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the SEO strategy and content team, ensuring client work aligns with SEO strategy, driving integration across disciplines and ensuring consistency across locations to break down silos. You will review and enhance ways of working, delivery mechanisms, oversee annual client strategies, QA processes and playbooks. You will feed into commercial performance, ensuring the team is delivering profitably and driving high client retention. You will contribute to commercial proposals and lead relationship with Ledger Bennett to coordinate the dedicated SEO Pod across their clients. You will also likely lead pitches where appropriate and build your personal PR through thought leadership and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Head of SEO & GEO to implement a future‑facing approach to SEO and GEO, translating the business proposition into a coherent best‑practice approach.
- Own communication across four ADs, enhancing ways of working and processes to ensure a consistent delivery approach across the team.
- Manage client profitability, monitor scopes, burn rates and proactively communicate issues.
- Ensure the SEO team delivers against an innovative strategic framework and operationally consistent roadmaps for delivery improvement.
- Be the point of escalation to resolve business priorities, deliverability, SLAs, and commercial objectives.
- Lead the construction of new client scopes where appropriate.
- Champion the use of Brand Insights AI with clients and the wider team.
- Drive resourcing decisions, balancing capacity and cost across locations.
- Support new business and drive growth through effective delivery.
- Develop new proprietary product solutions to drive efficiencies or diversified income streams.
- Identify and convert upsells/cross‑sells across the network.
- Act as a point of escalation for the Management and Client teams to resolve delivery issues.
- Promote industry recognition through case studies, thought leadership and awards.
- Champion Network culture and brand alignment.
- Manage the Ledger Bennett SEO Pod, ensuring high‑quality work and collaborative search expertise.
- Lead training to build a best‑in‑class offering.
- Organize core team elements—meetings, socials, transparency communication.
- Collaborate with Talent partners on recruitment priorities, including offshore resourcing.
