Role Summary
Senior Producer that sits within the Activation team at Havas Play UK, delivering live & digital experiences for sport, culture, and entertainment clients*.
Working in an integrated way, projects can be standalone or as part of multi-channel campaigns, spanning experiential and live events, brand partnerships activation, brand and product launches.
(* Ideal, but not essential: experience delivering live experiences within Telecomms, Automotive, Alcohol, Retail sectors, across Sport, Music, Film, Gaming passion points.)
Purpose of Role
The Senior Producer is the most senior production lead and is responsible for the teams’ response to production execution and on time delivery of live experience-focused campaigns and projects.
The Senior Producer should be an exceptional project manager and production-focused client handler who is adept at managing multiple projects, leading and developing the team and working within a diverse mix of team structures. That Senior Producer should be highly organised and process-driven; someone who can thrive in a fast-past environment.
This role plays a crucial role creating activation/pitch proposals (working in tandem with Account Management and Creative teams), leading on production budget creation, managing operational logistics, identifying, briefing, onboarding third-party suppliers, whilst overseeing project teams both throughout pre-production and delivery stages.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Producer, you should be confident in all the areas laid out below:
Project Management:
- Demonstrate strong project management skills, including ability to collaborate with agency departments on ideation & development, feed into written presentations, actively contribute to key status reports and timelines.
- Oversee multiple workstreams, working across numerous clients and projects at one time whilst maintaining a high work standard. Staying calm and displaying a positive attitude whilst under pressure.
- Proactively drive projects forward, relentlessly managing production timelines, and bringing in wider agency expertise and personnel in the process to ensure all steps and stakeholders are factored in.
- Demonstrate solid understanding of design/artworking processes; briefing Design studio in creating artwork and managing and meeting print deadlines with branding suppliers.
Production
- Confidently be able to identify and manage key suppliers, including but not limited to location/venue, scenic build & fabrication, technical, AV, content, branding, catering, merchandise, staffing & security suppliers.
- Demonstrate strong experience in managing and negotiating with venues, space providers, landlords/local councils.
- Possess a solid knowledge of tech and how it can be leveraged/utilised within live activation projects – including VR, AR, projection mapping, social mechanics (GIF/Photobooths etc.).
- Be fully confident working with scenic, fabrication and branding suppliers to deliver large-scale builds.
- Have a good understanding of content production process, being able to seamlessly work with content suppliers as part of any live experience.
- Hold and maintain up-to-date knowledge of safe working practices in a live events environment, with an understanding of producing H&S documentation.
- Have knowledge of crowd control and management in a live events environment and accreditation process for large scale events, with an understanding of event security.
- Autonomously create, own, manage event handbooks, run of show documents, trucking & vehicle movement plans.
- Autonomously create, own, manage and reconcile live experience project production budgets.
Communication (written/verbal) skills:
- Be able to lead high-level planning, client and production meetings.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, in particular when dealing with clients, contractors, guests and talent.
- Adapt your communications based on the needs of your clients, suppliers, and your team, flexing your approach to different requirements, working styles and personalities.
- Effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) clear and concise client communications, as well as when briefing suppliers and the internal team.
- Possess great attention to detail and ensure all written work is delivered to a high standard of quality.
Approach, initiative, and problem solving:
- Be resilient, positive, proactive and solutions-driven – always think one step ahead.
- Take a flexible approach and ability to adapt to changing priorities and situations, being able to juggle complex workstreams.
- Remain fully accountable for production operations, at the same time as training and empowering the team to feel in control and accountable themselves (particularly SAM, AM and AE).
- Have meticulous time management; allocating time appropriately to planning, scope and budgets, campaign activity and wrap up.
Relationships:
- Develop a strong working relationship with your clients, listening actively to really understand your clients’ desires and dislikes.
- Nurture solid relationships with key suppliers, being able to work seamlessly with an array of varying suppliers to be able to deliver great work for your clients.
- Have solid day-to-day working relationships with all teams within the agency, knowing how to work with different departments such as Creative & Design, Content Production, Account Handlers, following the processes of these teams and overarching Havas Play planning process.
- Set a great example and high standard for AEs, SAEs, AMs and SAMs, so they can learn and develop from you.
Client and industry knowledge:
- Understand your client’s business so that you are in the best possible position to deliver great work.
- Stay abreast of new innovations within the industry to be able to contribute effectively to brainstorms and be proactive about new ideas for current or prospective clients, delivering brilliant experiences as a result.
New business
- Hold strong contacts within relevant industries; nurture and grow these relationships to bring in new opportunities to the business.
- Feel confident taking a key role in new business pitches, understanding briefs, galvanising teams and delivering on time.
People Management
- Manage project team members, including production-focused Account Managers and Executives, as well as managing upwards including Business Directors and Managing Partners.
- Work closely with Account and Senior Account Directors, to ensure production workstreams are fed in to wider client updates and any challenges are being solved in a timely and efficient manner.
- Give clear guidance to team members, from initial briefing, to support along the way in moving workstreams forward.
Financial & Time Management
- Be fully competent with the finance processes; including setting up new job numbers, processing POs and invoices efficiently, reconciling production budgets.
- Comfortably be able to scope production budgets of any scale, working with suppliers to ensure cost accuracy.
- Take lead on production contracts, ensuring suppliers are adhering to Havas Play UK processes and terms.
- Deliver logical planning, strong communication and the ability to manage expectations both internally and externally.
- Deliver highly efficient time management; ensure that you and the team are delivering work on time and are conscientious with deadlines.
