HSDC is looking to recruit a cover teacher to deliver across several courses in our Academic and Unemployed provision. This is a multi-campus role and would suit an individual looking for a flexible position in education. We welcome candidates from industry looking to step into teaching, or more qualified professionals seeking a flexible work-life balance.

HSDC is looking for candidates who feel they could provide cover teaching across some of the following courses:

  • English and Maths qualifications (Level 2 and below)
  • IT and Digital Skills (Level 2 and below)
  • Business Administration and Customer Services (Entry/Level 1)
  • Well-being and Counselling Skills (Entry/Level 1)
  • Preparing for Employment and Job Skills (Entry/Level 1)
  • Health and Care (Entry/Level 1)

Candidates who hold qualifications in any of these areas are welcome to apply. HSDC will look to appoint the most successful candidate who can cover across multiple subjects. The successful candidate will ideally need to be qualified in Assessing, Internal Quality Assurance (IQA), and hold a recognised teacher training qualification. However, all staff at HSDC can enrol on our Level 3 Education and Training Award to become competent in the classroom if they have enough relevant industry experience. We are also able to support staff through the Level 3 Assessors Award and Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance Award.

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out appropriate training and assessment workload as agreed with your line manager (and reflected in the hours of work completed).
  • Undertaking all assessment, marking, and grading of courses whilst covering.
  • If the cover is long term, you may also be asked to do the following:
    • Design bespoke courses of non-regulated training to meet specific JCP demands for their customers.
    • Develop and deliver training/coaching sessions (small groups and one-to-one) as appropriate to their experience and adult needs.
    • Undertake IQA responsibilities for appropriate adult courses when required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A level 2 qualification or above in the subject that they are delivering.
  • Industry knowledge (where appropriate).
  • IQA qualifications (desirable but training can be provided).
  • Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or above.
  • Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) or Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent) (desirable but training can be provided).
  • Work-Based Trainer qualification (A1 or equivalent).
