This is an exciting new opportunity to join a busy multi-disciplinary coastal and flood engineering team, managing flood and erosion risk on the south coast. Coastal Partners provides a Coastal Risk Management Service to Havant Borough Council, Portsmouth City Council, Gosport Borough Council, Fareham Borough Council and Chichester District Council that reduces the risks to people, and the developed and natural environment from flooding and coastal erosion. This area includes three major harbours of significant environmental importance and over 246km of coastline.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Client and Engineering Service to support our asset management team. You will play a key role in helping deliver asset inspections and provide project management support.
You will be our eyes and ears in managing our coastal defence assets and managing our beaches. Where asset defects are identified, you need to be able to implement asset maintenance or replacement works to maintain the standard of protection these defences provide to our communities. A key part of the role will be to deliver asset inspections and surveying work on the coast, including the opportunity to be involved with the latest UAV technology. You will assist the team in the planning and reporting of inspection findings, inputting into maintenance design recommendations and updating asset datasets. For both maintenance and capital works civil projects, you will provide project management support covering design, procurement and site supervision, considering the environment, health and safety and the local community. Depending on your experience, you will have the opportunity to lead on these work packages.
Qualifications
Suitable applicants will require an HNC in Civil Engineering or Construction in the Built Environment or a related discipline. You should be enthusiastic, enjoy working outdoors, be environmentally aware and have confidence in your ability to find logical solutions to problems. Experience of surveying, using civil engineering technical standards, an awareness of health and safety guidance and familiarity with computer software applications, including Microsoft Excel, CAD and GIS would be an advantage.
