This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy multi‑disciplinary coastal management team managing coastal flood and erosion risk on the south coast. Coastal Partners provides a Coastal Management Service to five Local Authorities that reduces the risks to people, and the developed and natural environment from coastal flooding and erosion. Our area includes three major harbours of significant environmental importance and over 246km of coastline. Rising sea levels and increasingly frequent storms are placing greater pressure on our coastal communities and natural environments. With several major coastal management projects reaching critical stages, we are seeking an experienced Communications Officer to lead targeted, proactive communications, strengthen engagement with communities, and support our growing programme of work.

Responsibilities

  • You will work closely with coastal engineers, designers, and contractors to create clear and consistent messaging across a variety of communication channels.
  • A key part of the role will be maintaining a project communication plan that reflects current priorities, supports effective joint working and delivers comms campaigns, events, and community engagement activities.
  • In addition, you will create content for websites, social media, press releases, and reports, translating technical information into messages that resonate with diverse audiences.

Qualifications

The role requires a degree‑level qualification in Media, Marketing, or a related discipline, supported by a strong track record of relevant experience. Experience working within local government, government agencies, or the coastal management sector is desirable.
