The post is set at 1.08 FTE, with parents' evenings and marketing events among the wider duties. A level 5 teaching qualification, or a commitment to working towards one, is required.
What the job involves
- Plan and deliver A Level Chemistry teaching, learning, assessment and support, aiming for good attendance, retention and achievement
- Deliver scheduled teaching, tutorials where appropriate, and student assessment
- Record, share and regularly monitor student progress using College information systems
- Provide effective feedback to students
- Prepare learning plans and schemes of work
- Keep relevant records and carry out teaching-related administration
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high academic standards and a positive learning environment
- Attend parents' evenings
- Attend marketing and promotional events
Qualifications
- Level 5 or equivalent teaching qualification, such as a Certificate in Education or PGCE, or willingness to work towards one
Skills & knowledge
- High level of specialist knowledge of chemistry
Nice to have
- At least 2 years' experience teaching chemistry to full-time or part-time students
- Degree in a relevant subject
