About the Role
HSDC is looking to appoint a skilled and motivated Engineering Technician to support the daily operation of our workshops and learning environments. You will play a key role in preparing resources, maintaining equipment, and ensuring health and safety standards are consistently met. Working closely with teaching staff, you will assist both staff and students in practical sessions, help manage tools and materials, and carry out routine maintenance and safety checks. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills, industry knowledge, and a commitment to creating a safe, well-equipped, and supportive environment for student learning.
Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of teaching resources and set up to support teaching staff prior and after teaching sessions. Provide general cleaning and maintenance checks throughout the workshop.
- Assist teaching staff in the workshop setting, offering support to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment.
- Undertake reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and conduct risk assessments.
- Implement and maintain regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other related Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
- Participate in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, meetings and promotional activities as required.
Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in the relevant subject area or relevant industry experience.
- Technical qualification in the relevant subject area.
- Relevant industrial/subject experience.
- Experience of following/applying Health & Safety procedures.
- Working knowledge of the relevant curriculum area.
- Experience of ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
- Understanding and awareness of Health & Safety legislation.
