About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and student-focused Employability Coach to join our Vocational and Foundational Learning team at HSDC. In this rewarding role, you’ll deliver weekly employability sessions and one-to-one coaching to help students develop the skills and confidence they need to secure and sustain employment. You'll support learners with and without additional needs, helping them build soft skills, prepare for interviews, and create vocational profiles. If you have a passion for personal development, strong coaching skills, and experience working with young people, this is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact on student futures.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- To develop and deliver the employability based weekly learning sessions for students across the Vocational and Foundational Learning Courses
- To support students to develop job-related skills to help secure and sustain employment
- To engage collaboratively with all Teachers/Lecturers in the department fostering a culture of high expectations, high standards and mutual respect
- Support a cohort of students with/without additional needs to develop skills and strategies needed to find a job/work
- Complete vocational profiles with all VFL students
- Support and coach students on soft skills eg: communication, problem-solving, time management, and professional behaviour
Requirements
You will need:
- Level 3 Certificate - British Association for Supported Employment (BASE)
- English and maths to GCSE grade C or equivalent
- IT level 2 or equivalent
- Level 2 Coaching and/or mentoring qualifications
- Good knowledge of the current skills employers are looking for in a range of vocational careers
- Good knowledge of how students can develop and gain evidence of these skills through internships
- Experience of working with learners with specific learning difficulties / disabilities
