Role Summary
Based in London, Hauser & Wirth Publishers are looking for an experienced Commercial Operations Manager to lead the strategic coordination of our bulk warehouse operations across our European and US facilities, oversee the day-to-day management of our 7 Shopify storefronts, and manage the end-to-end logistics of our printer delivery operations. With responsibility for coordinating stock movements and purchase orders across the gallery including our ecommerce warehouses, you will have a commercial outlook and experience managing multiple projects at the same time. The position will suit someone able to work as part of a small team willing to use their initiative, with exceptional communication and organisation skills, an ability to work well under pressure, and experience handling multiple projects at once.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inventory & Logistics Management: Oversee global book inventory of up to 10k SKUs, stock movements, and replenishment across all 17 Hauser & Wirth gallery locations plus our distribution partners, ensuring efficient distribution, accurate reporting, and strong relationships with shippers and storage sites.
- E‑commerce & Retail Operations: Manage the Hauser & Wirth e‑commerce platform, including product launches, promotions, and marketing automations, while collaborating with fulfilment centres and bookselling teams to maintain excellent customer experience and commercial best practice.
- Publication & Production Coordination: Coordinate delivery and distribution of publications—including Ursula magazine—while supporting book production cost management and communicating stock levels, forecasts, and shipment updates to key stakeholders.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Liaise with colleagues across the gallery to build complex printer delivery instructions for each upcoming HW publication, considering potential cost savings and following deliveries through to arrival.
- Coordinate delivery of Hauser & Wirth’s quarterly magazine, Ursula, including subscriber delivery and client mail outs.
- Oversee book inventory and stock movements across all HW locations, plus our external warehouses and trade distributors, regularly analyzing our stockholdings to initiate stock replenishments as needed.
- Own and build on existing HW relationships with shippers and our storage sites, creating cost and time efficiencies.
- Manage and maintain Hauser & Wirth’s ecommerce site (2k+ orders annually) initiating new promotions, marketing automations, and creating new product pages – working closely with Associate Director, Sales & Distribution and our Marketing teams.
- Actively collaborate with our 2 ecommerce fulfilment sites to ensure excellent customer service and efficient turnaround of orders.
- Collaborate with local bookselling teams across both our dedicated bookshops and gallery locations on stock availability + commercial best practice, offering training in Shopify and coordinating POs & transfers in our inventory system for accurate reporting.
- Work closely with editorial and freelance production teams across book production and shipping costs.
- Communicate with key stakeholders on stock inventory levels, forecasting, shipment tracking and stock availability, producing monthly and ad hoc stock reports.
This role does not hold any line management responsibilities.
