Position Overview: Haus of Mclees is seeking a motivated and passionate intern who is currently in their placement year to work with our CEO and lead designer along with collaborative partners. The internship will run for 2 months. You will assist in the creation and development of our new line of swimwear and festival-wear, offering your skills and knowledge across all areas of fashion design and conceptual development. This position will offer a comprehensive and in-depth view of the inner workings of a young fashion company. You will gain insight on all operations and development of the brand from the ground up. An ideal candidate should not only possess the skills needed to successfully develop product, but should also be eager to learn and grow with the company. This role is varied and will provide a comprehensive view of how a fashion company is developed, along with the design, marketing, creative and business processes that go behind the brand. This internship will offer you the chance to expand upon your skills and grow in the fashion industry, all while making meaningful contributions to product development, design and creative outputs including social media and campaign shootings. We are offering a part-time working schedule and look forward to hearing from all prospective candidates.
Key Duties:
- Sewing/beading garments: hand sewing and beading of additional accessories and tags to garments.
- Collection creation: creative meetings, conceptualisation and design of future collections and made-to-order pieces.
- Sourcing materials: sourcing and finding information on materials which are suitable for current collections and pieces in the design process.
- Photoshoot assistance: assisting models, creative direction and photographer for in studio, e-commerce and on location photoshoots.
- Garment packaging: assistance with wrapping and packing online orders in branded signature packaging.
- Basic studio clerical and housekeeping tasks: ensuring that workspace is tidy and clients are greeted and corresponded to in a professional manner.
- Assist CEO and lead designer: supporting everyday operations.
- CAD Drawings: design and document product.
- Tech packs: creating tech packs for manufacturer.
Your Skills:
- Motivated, with a keen interest in fashion and design, possessing a strong interest in the current fashion industry.
- Quick learner, can easily adapt and learn new skills.
- Positive attitude, ability to face challenges head-on while maintaining composure in a fast paced environment.
- Eye for detail, as much of what we do focuses on smaller detail oriented practices and organization in order to achieve a successful product.
- Sewing skills by hand are required, and machine sewing skills are a plus but not required for this particular role.
- Basic knowledge/proficiency in Adobe suites programs.
- Working proficiency in Canva.
- Flexible working schedule, must be available some weekends and evenings in order to complete client related tasks and photoshoots.
- Drawing/sketching skills.
- Must be able to wear “many hats at once” as this position is a multi-faceted role (Please note that additional duties may be required within reason, based on the discretion of the lead designer.)
