Studio Operations Manager for Luxury Interior Design Studio (12 month maternity cover)

We are delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded London-based interior design studio to recruit a Studio Operations Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role within a close-knit team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the studio while supporting the delivery of exceptional residential interior design projects.

Working closely with the Founder, you will oversee studio operations, financial administration, project coordination and team management, allowing the designers to focus on delivering outstanding creative work.

This is a varied, hands-on role that combines operations, finance, project management and people coordination, making it ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats within a fast-paced design studio.

This is a 12-month maternity cover with the possibility to extend to a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Studio & Business Operations
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the studio, including office operations, suppliers, contractors and studio systems.
  • Manage studio finances, including budgets, project costs, invoicing, cash flow and WIP, working closely with the external accountant.
  • Maintain and improve studio processes, systems, compliance and HR administration, including onboarding and recruitment.
  • Project & Team Coordination
  • Oversee project programmes, ensuring deadlines, budgets and team resourcing stay on track.
  • Coordinate designers’ workloads and liaise with consultants, contractors and suppliers throughout project delivery.
  • Line manage junior and support staff and lead regular studio and project meetings.
  • Commercial Administration
  • Prepare fee proposals, contracts and project documentation.
  • Track project fees, payment milestones, variations and financial records.
  • Act as the main day-to-day contact for clients, coordinating project updates and logistics.
  • Support the Director with client meetings and maintain accurate client records and correspondence.

About You

  • At least five years’ experience in Studio Management, Practice Management or Operations Management within an interior design, architecture or creative professional services environment.
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, with experience managing budgets, invoicing and project finances.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Confident leading and supporting a small team while building strong relationships across the business.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable working with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with project management and finance software such as Monday. com, Fohlio, Xero or similar, alongside strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Calm, proactive and solutions-focused, with a genuine passion for creating efficient, well-run studios.
  • 25 days’ annual leave.
