We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee daily operations within our organisation. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a background in hospitality or hotel management, and the ability to supervise diverse teams effectively. Duties
- The General Manager will be responsible for the complete daily operation of the hotel, including:
- Front of House & Reception
- Housekeeping
- Events coordination oversight
- Bar & Restaurant service standards
- Staff supervision & rota control
- Financial oversight and cost discipline
This role requires a hands-on leader who understands hospitality operations and financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operations Management
- Ensure smooth running of reception, housekeeping, bar, and restaurant
- Maintain high cleanliness and service standards
- Resolve guest complaints professionally
- Conduct daily operational walkthroughs
- Monitor daily revenue (rooms, events, bar)
- Control staff costs and overtime
- Monitor utilities and maintenance spending
- Ensure proper stock control systems
- Support revenue protection (no unauthorised discounts/refunds)
- Submit weekly performance report to Directors
- Supervise Deputy Manager and department heads
- Enforce uniform and conduct standards
- Ensure BrightHR compliance (log in/out, leave)
- Conduct monthly staff meetings
- Ensure SOPs are followed
- Maintain health & safety standards
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting discipline
- Work closely with Revenue Manager on pricing discipline
Candidate Profile
- Has minimum 3-5 years hotel management experience
- Understands budgeting and P&L responsibility
- Is confident managing teams
- Can take ownership without constant supervision
- Lives locally (Shifnal / Telford / Wolverhampton / surrounding areas preferred)
- Is commercially minded and financially disciplined
- Has proven experience in increasing Star standards of Hotel
- Experience managing events and leisure facilities is desirable.
