We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the company’s payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries, wages, pensions, and deductions in line with UK legislation. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong technical payroll knowledge and the ability to manage end-to-end payroll operations as well as provide strategic support in payroll planning and compliance. Current payroll software in use is Moneysoft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for the client bank, employees on a monthly/weekly/bi-weekly basis.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll transactions including salaries, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), pensions, bonuses, overtime, and deductions.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, timesheets, and employee data in line with GDPR.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK payroll legislation including HMRC, RTI submissions, and Auto-Enrolment requirements.
  • Administer company pension schemes and liaise with pension providers.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and prepare monthly payroll journals for Finance.
  • Handle employee queries regarding payroll, taxes, and benefits in a professional and timely manner.
  • Liaise with HR to ensure accurate data flow between departments.
  • Lead year-end processes including P60s, P11Ds.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and implement changes as required.
  • Supervise and develop junior payroll staff.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in payroll processing and management.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax regulations, and pension schemes.
  • Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent numeracy skills and high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
