An established engineering company wishes to recruit an Engineering Production Manager to join their team.
Job purpose: You will oversee the day-to-day management of all operational activities. The role is pivotal in ensuring operational efficiency, meeting project deadlines, maintaining health & safety standards, and achieving financial targets. The successful candidate will lead a team of approx. 15-20 employees driving improvements and maintaining high standards at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate production schedules to ensure timely delivery and effective operations.
- Supervise and oversee personnel across various departments within the company.
- Organise and prioritise workflows to ensure machine completion on time for customers.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and encourage ongoing professional development.
- Act as the main point of contact, facilitating communication and coordination between all departments within the company.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety guidelines, industry standards, and company policies.
- Monitor day-to-day operations to improve performance, reduce downtime, and enhance productivity.
- Implement opportunities for greater operational efficiency.
- Oversee and manage relationships with subcontractors to ensure smooth operation and project completion.
- Manage the logistics and shipping of machines, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Oversee and manage maintenance schedules and activities to ensure all machinery is in optimal working condition for production.
- Address and resolve any operational challenges that might affect project timelines or quality.
- Ensure compliance with all standards and internal quality control procedures.
- Manage and coordinate the yearly servicing of equipment, ensuring all necessary certifications are up to date and compliance standards are met.
Person Specification:
- At least 3+ years of experience in operations management, particularly in the engineering industry.
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding of health & safety regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities under tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail with a focus on operational excellence.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvements.
