About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bid Writer to join an established and award-winning construction and civil engineering organisation. As Bid Writer, you will play a key role within the wider work-winning team, taking ownership of bid content from the early PQQ stage through to final tender submission. Working closely with internal stakeholders, technical teams and external consultants, you will develop compelling, accurate and client-focused proposals that help secure new business. Key Responsibilities Develop clear win strategies, bid plans and answer plans for PQQ and tender submissions. Review PQQ and tender documentation to understand client requirements, evaluation criteria and submission requirements. Lead and coordinate assigned bids from initial planning through to final submission. Organise bid kick-off meetings, establish submission programmes and coordinate contributions from internal teams and external consultants. Research clients, projects and industry requirements to support well-informed and competitive submissions. Write, edit and review high-quality, bespoke tender responses that are clear, concise, engaging and aligned with client requirements. Work with technical, operational and commercial teams to develop strong methodologies, technical content and project narratives. Identify and incorporate relevant project experience, case studies, evidence and supporting information. Prepare high-quality materials and presentations for client interviews and presentations, attending these where required. Maintain accurate and up-to-date bid information within company systems and bid management software. Visit project sites and collaborate with site teams to gather information and develop compelling case studies and project content. Capture feedback from completed bids and contribute to the continuous improvement of bid processes, templates and best practice. Support the wider work-winning function with other reasonable duties as required. About You We are looking for an experienced Bid Writer with a proven track record of preparing successful PQQs, tenders and proposal submissions within the construction or civil engineering sector. You will be a confident communicator and strong writer who can understand complex information, identify key messages and translate them into compelling client-focused content. You should be highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Essential Experience & Skills Minimum 5 years' experiencepreparing high-quality PQQs, tenders and bid submissions within construction or civil engineering. Proven experience managing complex bids from initial opportunity through to final submission. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and persuasive content. Strong understanding of bid strategy, answer planning and tender requirements. Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and high-quality output. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines. Highly motivated, proactive and committed to producing competitive, high-quality submissions. Confident working with internal stakeholders, technical teams, external consultants and senior management. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and presentation software. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team. Comfortable working under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines. Desirable A third-level qualification, ideally within construction, engineering, business, communications or a related discipline. Experience working within a construction or civil engineering contractor environment. Experience preparing client presentations and attending tender interviews.
