Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated SHEQ Safety Advisor to join their growing team operating across Northern Ireland. A busy civil engineering contractor employing approximately 80 staff, the company delivers works across public and private sector contracts. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who can support and improve the company’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality standards while helping develop and maintain ISO accredited management systems throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a positive health & safety culture across all company operations
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks on live road and construction projects
  • Prepare RAMS, safety documentation, toolbox talks, and site reports
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Ensure compliance with all current Northern Ireland health & safety legislation and industry standards
  • Assist with implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of ISO management systems including:
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management
  • ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety
  • Support management during external audits and accreditation processes
  • Work closely with operational staff, supervisors, mechanics, and management teams to improve compliance and performance
  • Deliver safety briefings and assist with staff training and inductions
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and documentation
  • Essential Requirements

    • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
    • Minimum 3 years experience in a SHEQ / Health & Safety role within construction & civils
    • Good understanding of ISO standards and compliance systems
    • Strong knowledge of construction health & safety legislation
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills
    • Full UK driving licence
    • Ability to work independently and across multiple live sites

    Desirable Requirements

    • Experience working within highways or civil engineering sectors
    • Internal Auditor qualification
    • CSCS / CSR card
    • Experience implementing ISO systems throughout a business
    • Temporary Traffic Management awareness
