Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated SHEQ Safety Advisor to join their growing team operating across Northern Ireland. A busy civil engineering contractor employing approximately 80 staff, the company delivers works across public and private sector contracts. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who can support and improve the company’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality standards while helping develop and maintain ISO accredited management systems throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a positive health & safety culture across all company operations
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks on live road and construction projects
- Prepare RAMS, safety documentation, toolbox talks, and site reports
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
- Ensure compliance with all current Northern Ireland health & safety legislation and industry standards
- Assist with implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of ISO management systems including:
- ISO 9001 Quality Management
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management
- ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years experience in a SHEQ / Health & Safety role within construction & civils
- Good understanding of ISO standards and compliance systems
- Strong knowledge of construction health & safety legislation
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and across multiple live sites
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within highways or civil engineering sectors
- Internal Auditor qualification
- CSCS / CSR card
- Experience implementing ISO systems throughout a business
- Temporary Traffic Management awareness
