An opportunity to work in a newly refurbished care home, opening in May. Hatzfeld Care Ltd provides high quality residential and day care through our specialised mental health, dementia care and residential care services. Each of our homes offers a unique environment providing high quality, consistent, responsive care in a homely, supportive setting.
The role will be based at a Care Home that specialises in dementia care. The cook will prepare residents' meals and maintain a well-balanced nutritious diet, taking into consideration special dietary needs and requirements as set out in Residents' Care Plans and residents' menu choices. Maintain a high standard of food preparation and implement the requirements set out by the Environment Health and Local Authority for the Home, the Food Safety Act 1990, and the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2005. Personal appearance must be of an acceptable level. Uniform provided must be worn, hair covered or tied back. Sensible enclosed non-slip shoes to be worn.
Requirements:
- Must be confident to lone work
- Experience in maintaining a 5* food hygiene rating is ideal but not essential
- An understanding of Safe food better business and working inline to this
- To hold a suitable food and hygiene certificate, ideal but not essential
- To prepare food and cook in a hygienic manner
- Help come up with ideas for meals and mealtimes
- To be aware of the residents' dietary needs and respond to their comments and requests in respect of the menu
- To ensure that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable goods
- To contribute in the serving of food
- To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required
- Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking procedures
