We’re looking for a confident and detail-oriented Temporary Payroll Executive/Officer to join a creative agency working two days a week from a lovely office in Tottenham Court Road. This is a stand-alone temporary role reporting to our Financial Controller, focused on managing the full payroll cycle for our UK-based team of approximately 200 employees.
You’ll take full ownership of our payroll operations using Payfit, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The role also involves collaboration with internal teams and external providers, and you may support the integration of a new payroll system currently under review.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage monthly payroll end-to-end, including BACs and HMRC payments via Payfit and HSBCNet
- Process payroll changes (e.g., joiners, leavers, salary updates) and liaise with People & Culture and Finance
- Prepare salary variation reports and manage dual approval processes
- Administer company pension scheme and auto-enrolment processes
- Produce and post payroll journals in Payfit and Deltek Maconomy
- Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts
- Handle payroll-related payments and tax submissions
- Act as the main contact for our payroll provider (Payfit)
- Maintain documentation, assist with audits, and manage HMRC payroll tax accounts
- Stay current with legislation and lead implementation of changes
- Support on ad hoc payroll and employment tax matters
What We’re Looking For:
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation, PAYE, and tax procedures
- CIPP qualification is a plus, but not essential
- End-to-end payroll experience; familiarity with Payfit and HiBob is advantageous
- Pension scheme knowledge and auto-enrolment experience
- Excel/Google Sheets proficiency, including use of formulas like VLOOKUP
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
