Job Purpose
A PSV Company bus driver is responsible for driving a passenger‑carrying vehicle (PCV) and providing good customer service and a safe and comfortable journey throughout the network of HATS buses.
Location
Unit 71, Capital Business Centre, 22 Carlton Road.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients throughout the journey and handover.
- Wear high‑visibility PPE in vehicle movement areas.
- Observe speed limits within bus depots and school premises.
- Check the vehicle before service and carry out a safety walk‑round.
- Report any defects in the vehicle or equipment promptly.
- Keep the vehicle clean and tidy before and during service.
- Abide by company regulations on mobile phone use, smoking and prohibited equipment.
- Attend safety briefings and training as required.
- Report safety incidents and accidents using the company procedure.
- Understand and follow emergency and evacuation plans.
- Provide a high standard of customer service and communicate relevant information (e.g. road closures, diversions) to passengers.
- Drive the company vehicle safely, legally and professionally.
- Maintain accurate service timing, avoiding unnecessary early or late arrival.
- Stay updated on road closures and special events that may affect the service.
- Hold a valid driving licence and CPC licence at all times.
- Report all safety, security, driving and customer service incidents to the line manager swiftly.
Required Qualifications
- Valid current UK (or acceptable other) driving licence with category D1 and no restrictions.
- CPC licence is in date and valid for the vehicle type.
- No greater than 6 penalty points.
- Good understanding of written and spoken English.
- Proven eligibility to work in the UK.
- Provide suitable references and proof of identity.
- Professional driving experience, including 7 hours of DCPC training each year.
- Basic secondary school education or equivalent, and willingness to undertake further training such as NVQ where required.
- Ability to drive a vehicle to a competent and safe standard.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (ESOL entry level 2 or higher).
Contract Details
- Full‑time position.
- Hourly rate: £14.70.
- Core working hours Monday‑Friday 07:00‑09:00 & 14:30‑16:30.
- Closing date: Sunday 30th November 2025.
